Eagle Tools is a family-owned woodworking tool shop in Los Angeles. Founded as a brick-and-mortar store in 1988 by Jesse Barragan, Eagle Tools has served both hobbyists and professionals. Their clients include Netflix and UCLA, and you’ll even see some high-profile customers, such as David Lynch and Harrison Ford, at their shop.
Eagle Tools wanted an online shop where woodworkers from all over the U.S. could easily see their inventory and make purchases online without having to make phone calls. Because they had a small team, they wanted to scale gradually until they were comfortable shipping equipment. I designed their store as a catalog at first, then gradually added online shopping features as we promoted the site.
Half of their customers visited their online shop via mobile phones and often during woodshop hours. I designed the website to have large tiles so it’s easier to navigate, even with hands covered in woodshop debris.
Since its launch in August 2023, Eagle Tools loved the convenience of tracking and fulfilling orders online, which cuts down on phone calls. They also noticed more customers showing interest beyond Los Angeles, even as far as Denmark.
